This is our 1-2 year old room. All the children in this room are 1 by the 30th of April and then turn two throughout the year. We follow the Victorian School cut off dates.
We have 15 children and 4 staff; a qualified team leader and 3 experienced assistants. That is an extra staff member over the required ratios.
This room has a separate sleep / quiet room to allow us to cater to the childrens individual routines. The sleep room is also used as a separate play room when all the children are awake.
There is a fridge for storing bottles and a microwave for heating bottles and / or meals if the children are sleeping at mealtimes, both located in the room which also means that the children’s routines can be followed easily.
We have nappy changing facilities in the room and a door through to toilets for children who begin to toilet train during their possum year.
The possums have their own separate playground to allow the children to play and learn at their own pace in a safe environment (whilst still seeing the older children in the adjoining area).
A whiteboard is used to record routine information about each child’s day and staff will always speak to parents to pass on messages about your child’s day at Roseberry House.
The centre has a uniform planning process based on observations taken of the children and individual goals set. The program follows the centre philosophy, which is based on ‘learning through play’. We foster all areas of development in our programs whilst always ensuring individual needs are met. |
